I know I've seen posts for this before, but being computer illiterate, I was having trouble locating them. In the last few days I feel like a fire walker. I mean wow! If I touch the bottom of either foot to the calf of my other leg the heat is incredible. And wearing shoes is a real treat. If only feet would sweat, that might cool things down. All my symptoms seem to be pretty transitory. They come and go like the wind and I develop new symptoms almost on a weekly basis. I'm certain that the "hot foot" will pass in a few days, but I'm hoping someone has an idea to get me by until it does. Thanks for looking in on this and best of luck to all of us.

Hi. I have RSD and PN but have been having this on and off as well. My symptoms also have changed through the 3.5 years. For myself I have times when I am frozen foot like in air condition or cold weather and then times where I burn. Some meds people find helpful but I have not. I wear shoes every minute I am up because I can't tolerate without it. For you though have you tried a different type shoe and sock? Sometimes when I take my sock off it helps. Feel better and sorry I am not much help

I use Biofreeze for burning. It works well for me.
Sometimes the feet can get cold--- when the blood supply comes back, there is a burning sensation...like when your hands get really cold in winter in the snow etc. But that kind of burning typically stops within an hour or so. Only one foot affected? Does the color change with the burning too?

It's in both feet and there is no color change. I've not had much trouble with my feet getting cold. In thinking about it I've not had any trouble with cold feet. I have Biofreeze, but haven't tried it on my feet. I will give it a go though. It's funny, because this is a new "thing" and like most of my oddball symptoms I suspect it will pass in a few days. Unfortunately, it's mighty uncomfortable now. I'll try the Biofreeze and let you know. Thank you for the tip!

I have the exact same symptoms and for now my 'trick of the moment' is to bathe my feet/legs is cool water with Epsom salts, I do this for as long as I can, approx 1hr at a time.
I also have gel filled cold compresses that I keep in the freezer and use when I can't get my feet wet, this works in bed- I call it my cold water bottle instead of the hot water people in my country use frequently. |

As I tend to go from searing [dipped in a french fryer vat] to being put into a dry ice vault.
When hot? The spray evaporates and helps some... Maybe a fan indirectly blowing on them as well [not directly? THAT's TOO MUCH!] When cold? Damp towells warmed in a microwave but towell wrapped again to keep from burning...as you don't always know when it's too hot or cold. Compresses are a good choice for bed, as the evaporation helps for the long term. Just be careful. Simply because you DON't REALLY KNOW? Be super cautious. Certainly don't want to make things worse than they already are. ![]() ![]() |
