As I'm sure all of you can attest, the feelings that I experience are very hard to describe. I don't have problems with ringing in my ears, but I would say that the feeling in my head is like an electrical buzzing and seems to be localized more on the left side. It is a constant buzzing with occasional sporadic firing of nerves in my head and face. I also find that I have very little symptoms in the morning, but they get worse as the day goes on. Also, the warmer the temperature of my surroundings the worse my symptoms become.

Thanks alot for the information and articles mrsD. And another question, how do the people on this board feel about alternative medicine. I am considering giving it a shot since the only thing my neurologists can seem to provide me with is drugs to mask my symptoms. Thanks again.

Alternative medicine used wisely can be very effective.

Acupuncture esp helps with nerve issues.

You do need to find out your B12 level in numbers, your Vit D level, and assess any medications you may be taking that may be contributing to your current issues.

The subforum above has threads on "drugs that may cause PN" and supplements that may be useful for you.

Some homework is necessary here because neuropathies are complex and very different from person to person. Doing your homework will help you choose alternative solutions safely and effectively.

I am making plans to see a holistic doctor that was recommended by a friend. ** Please let me know if you think that this might be a good plan or a waste of time and money. Thanks.

mrsD 11-04-2010 12:08 PM

Cannot find it.

Anyone going to a holistic doctor, needs to do some homework first to see what is really out there and what is speculation.

Some of these doctors just exist to sell you things.
Without a foundation of your own, you cannot evaluate the opinions or treatments. With the internet today, you can do this... and must.

NeuroTalk is filled with information gathered by many people.
It is a great resource to get you started.

My thought is that your body may find its way back to normal, but it can take a long time. People who stop benzodiazepines for example, have problems for many years.

If you 'let' your body heal, by eating well, exercising as best you can, use the supplements that your body needs, maybe it will go back to a degree of normal.

The more I mess with mine....the worse it gets.:(

I'm ready for you.......

Tingles (cute name).......I will completely understand if you take this wrong, but I just need to speak my mind. Becauses you at least know who/how you got your PN, you at least have a mystery solved that some of us do not. When one has these symptoms and all they have to put in their pocket after test after test is "idiopathic" it is a hard pill to swallow. Also, when one gets PN from a disease property that was out of their control, again it is hard to accept. Your's on the other hand has explanation........we others feel like we have been shot from behind!

With that said, I do understand, we are frustrated at the "happening", you are probably very angry at yourself, neither is a good place to be.

I am glad you are doing something constructive and giving back to society by going into research, that is to be admired.

I definitely didn't take anything you said the wrong way, I completely understand where you are coming from. I had no idea what neuropathy was until it hit me, and after reading about it and how much isn't understood about the disease, I've been inspired to pursue a career where I can help to contribute to its understanding. I understand that many of you out there suffer from intense pain, and I'm thankful that my neuropathy isn't as severe. But I am confident that science will progress as it always has, and there will one day be more effective treatments, and hopefully cures, for all diseases.

naphtha contains benzene which besides being a carcinogen is also known to cause nerve damage. i actually suspect it is a part of the cause of my own PN. lye also is known to cause nerve damage. im not a chemist and dont know how much of each ends up in the crystals but these may be your culprits right here rather than the dmt itself. smoking them will certainly get them into your bloodstream more quickly and to a greater extent than skin exposure. keep taking supplements that promote or provide the environment needed for nerve repair and growth. a healthy life style in eating and exercizing also may help. I havent found any miracle cures for exposure to toxins, hopefully since the exposure is over and there will be no further exposures you will be able to heal over time.

I also had a similar experience

hey Tingles,
I know it has been a few years since you put this post up, but I am so glad that you decided to post what you did. I had a similar experience when I also decided to extract dmt from MHB using the naphtha method. I took it a few times, and felt a little ( because I only did a little), but on the fourth time, I "broke through" and had a spectacular and horrifying experience of God, myself, and the meaning of life. it was a wake up call for me to change the path I was on. it was terrible. for weeks afterward I had nightmares, then started to get strange spots on my skin, lost weight, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, got an ulcer, then four months laster I developed burning and tingling sensations all over my body along with muscle jerks, and joint pain. at one point it even felt like I had a lump in my throat when I swallowed. I eventually went to a doctor and tested for many things, but they found nothing. he put me on vitamin B shots and tablets, magnesium tablets, and eventually put me on zolatil antidepressant. they all helped a lot, but the tingling still remained until just recently. the only thing that changed in my life recently is that I took neem extract for three weeks straight twice a day and I also decided to act on what was shown to me during my dmt experience. I began to repent to people around me for the wrong I had done to them, I changed my heart attitude and I confessed things that I thought I would never confess and it really has helped me. I cannot pinpoint exactly what it was, but I do think that all of what I just wrote synergistically worked to cleanse and beef up my body and cleanse my soul. dmt is powerful. I too researched it and didn't find anything out there about bad trips until after it was too late, but in the midst of my dark shadow of the night experience, which lasted almost a year, I learned a lot about myself and have been able to use that experience to change and be redeemed by the grace of God. the spiritual veil is there because our bodies cannot physically handle much of what lies on the other side. it is not hidden from us in order to control us, but to protect us. I hope and pray that your health gets better soon. thanks again for your post.
