Lyrica can cause weight gain too. It also has not worked as well for me overtime. I've only been on it for 6 weeks and Ive already had to increase dosage twice. It worries me that once I get to the max dosage, what will I do then? I hope that it works better for you.

I share the same worry.....

What happens when I reach the max dosage of Gab. or Lyrica for that matter, either we grit our teeth and I mean grit, or we bring in the big guns.

There has to be some big guns (that are legal) doesn't there??!!

As i posted here previously, I discontinued Gabapentin after only a few weeks because of the significant mood changes I developed while taking it. I have had a good response to low dose Elavil (10 mg AM/20 mg PM). Burning sensations have ceased and shooting pains have been greatly reduced. It also seems have greatly diminished the discomfort associated with any compression of my arms/legs making sitting and sleeping much easier. I'm pleased that I've been able to find continued relief on the same dose for the past 3 months. Take care, Liz

I used to take Elavil for my bladder disease, but when I tried to use it for the neuropathy I couldn't get on it fast enough to get to a dose that worked, because I'm so sensitive to side effects. But I may have to try again. My Dr. suggested combining it with the Lyrica.

Good Idea......

I forgot about Elavil, I did read a while ago that it can be used in combination with Lyrica and I believe Gab. too, better idea than keep upping Lyrica and Gab. If I need to go up again, I am going to mention this.

Also, Cymbalta is supposed to help some nerve pain, not sure if it is as good as Elavil though. I know it is good for depression though, it helped me a lot in that area.

Cymbalta and Lyrica are supposed to be very good together for nerve pain. In my Erythromelalgia group most people are on that combo. Alot of them have neuropathy too. They say its a lifesaver.

Don't get me wrong I am happy the Gab. is working, but if I have to be on this for life and have to keep upping dosage, I am afraid to think what may happen. I have had to struggle with my weight my whole life, so this is quite disheartening for me. I just hope the Lyrica works as well for me and I don't create a monster!!

I am on Gabapentin also and thought about a shift to Lyrica but as I tend to get used to the dosage over time I am keeping Lyrica for the future- does this make sense?

Yes it does.....

Invisable I take 2400mg per day, this has gradually been increased over two years - but NO MORE I am determined.
