It is difficult to 'anglicize' Yiddish words, sometimes.
Also spelled fa-klempt, fer-klempt, & far-klempt
The 'f' and 'v' become blurred in the german pronunciation.
(Useless information that you didn't have to know, just to brighten the day!... TMI!! )

Hi, MrsD-

You once defined for me what "verklempt" meant. Please try not to be if you possibly can.

It goes without saying that you're in all our thoughts and are so much valued by everyone at this forum.

Wishing you the very best in the days to come, and am so sorry you're going through all this. You'll be okay - just wait and see.

From one white-haired old lady to another, a large hug.

Sheltiemom

Wink

You know Bob... I love Yiddish words. They seem so descriptive of feelings.

I did look up verklempt, and I guess it has crossed over to English now with the V.... I used to love Mike Meyers doing that skit.

Mike Meyers, Madonna and Rosanne... with a special guest at the end. Very classically funny.

Default From another l'il old white haired lady

& a cancer survivor who's hobby/recreation is twice yearly Ct scans @ Sloan Kettering. To date I've had about 10. The anxiety mounts the longer you have to wait for results. Luckily I get them the next day...but there is always the nagging thought that says you're not as out of the woods as you think.

I am sending you my fondest wishes for a positive outcome and hope that 2011 brings all of us some new info/drugs/therapies that will lessen the pain & disability we all experience.

Default Sorry to hear......

And yes, my BP was up too. Differently than the last time too, to confound my doctor!

Some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that my B12 was 1999 (I guess that is the top limit). This is from 5mg daily for several months using the new Puritan's pride 5mg methyl B12 form. ( this is important, because I may start metformin soon...which depletes B12)

Also my Vit D was 43. Not really great...considering I use 5000IU D3 daily, and my doctor wants over 50ng. So I am going to do 10,000 IU one day, and 5,000IU the next until the next testing.

But all my efforts for controlling my insulin resistance now, for many years, (2 decades really) are now in the toilet. I will have to go back on metformin... not a great prospect.
There is a new form called Glumetza, which is less GI aggravating, but no one has it yet. It was recalled with the "stinky bottle" recalls...of Tylenol and Lipitor. The recall of Glumetza was at the wholesale level...so supplies may be still on pharmacy shelves! --How would a layman know this? Answer--not at all! )

I called CVS and Walgreen's and they had some. Didn't know what the drug was at first... not a confidence building event. (I talked to the Pharmacist personally -- pfffffftttttt)
The recall I discovered, by calling the company, this afternoon, says it will be available next month or 2.
The pharmacist at the manufacturer suggested I go and get the lot # of the bottles at CVS, and call them back Monday. I decided I will sniff the bottle as well, tomorrow...that ought to make the staff have a "great day" etc... crazy white haired lady sniffing the bottle!

The lumps in my neck are suspicious via the ultrasound I had. So now I have to have a CAT scan of them.
Not looking forward to this, because I have allergies to iodine imaging drugs... I'll face this next week.... premeds, etc.

I'm telling ya.... this is one frustrating situation. The prospect of Lymphoma is not something to look forward to.

However, my mammogram was normal. At least that was a comfort.
Sending you hope for negative results on the CT, but If by some chance it is Lymphoma, I have a friend that "beat" hers with treatment. No sign of it after 6 years.
You appear to be a very strong willed lady, I have faith that you will handle this just the same as you are handling the PN, after all we are all in the same boat, just because we have one or more things, at any moment we can add another to the list.
Take comfort in you precious little felines. They can give such joy, just looking at their sweet little faces (I so miss mine.)

Oh crappola. I hope the lumps are benign. At least you're having it checked out right away. I've known people who ignored lumps like that for months or years.

I'll keep you in my prayers.
