I too have the startle issue. People at work are always laughing at me saying, how could I raise 5 kids and yet be so jumpy.

The startle sensations nor the tinnitus were brought on by meds with me though, I am not on meds, and haven't been. My tinnitus doesn't come and go, it's always there, it's just sometimes I am better at ignoring it. It's also determined by the other sounds around me.

I feel this way when I have a flare of the autonomic neuropathy. As a matter of fact, most of my senses are on overdrive. I also have trouble focusing my eyes and they become very dry and sting.

It sounds like it may be different, but I am currently working on setting up an appointment for sound sensitivity. I believe I have (and a doctor believes I probably have--but he isn't qualified to diagnose me) Misophonia or 4S.

It's not well known... it started around the time my neuropathy and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) started.
