I have a B12 deficiency and subacute combined degeneration of my spine. My B12 level was 150 and now with monthly shots and B12 sublinguals over 2000. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

One of our members, rose, had this problem also.
She often posted on the rocky, slow improvement she experienced once she normalized her blood levels of B12: examples: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...978#post516978 http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...449#post181449 You can search her in "members list" and read all her posts. From what I can gather, it can be a slow road back.

To tgcasey:
You might have other nutrient deficiencies ... the B12 is only one nutrient that supports nerve functions. Malabsorption may be occurring for you in the GI tract. Gluten intolerance and inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's contribute to malabsorption. You may have taken medications in the past that damage nerves. You may be exposed to some toxins, solvents. You may have impaired glucose issues. Here is the link to our subforum, where there are many posts you can read, and see if anything seems familiar to you. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum119.html You may have genetic issue that is occurring with your low B12. This is a large subject, with many variables.

Thanks I just walked in the door. Met with the Neuro doctor today and I asked about my condition. She said that I have spinal cord degeneration damage which causes the nerves to act or respond like neuropathy. My question is does anybody have this disease like me due to a B12 deficiency.

Rose, who used to post here, has this.
She is not currently posting, but if you do a search of her name, you can read her previous posts. Read her webpage, which is already on this thread. Where you are now, is an extreme result of low B12 levels. There is a possibility for remyelination of your nerves, and this may be enhanced by supplements. The MS community shares this problem. Supplements for remyelination: http://www.msrc.co.uk/index.cfm/fuse...how/pageid/772 MS shares similar damage to neurons, as combined degeneration. Look over that list and see what you want to pursue. In general myelin is restored by Omega-3 fatty acids and B12, B6 and folate. The RX vitamin Metanx has the 3 Bs in activated form to help with this process. Your recovery depends on how long you had this, and how you provide the healing components.
