Let me just throw in my experience-- 2 cents:

My xrays show severe back issues. My doctor said I should be
in severe pain and suffering immensely.

I do have some problems now and then on the left since my last fall. I can't stand for long periods of time anymore.

But I still get around, I use a hiking pole for stairs and for malls, parking lots and whatever. I have a long walking limit of about 2 hrs with rests in between.

Not everything that looks bad is bad in reality. Now perhaps another fall or accident would be devastating to me at this point, so I am very very careful.

Dr. Sarno MD who writes about this explains it in his books.
Give him a Google and see.
