It does. Like I said - long gross story. NSAID overdose followed by mis-dx & more NSAIDs. They were ready to remove 1/2 my bowel and told me I'd never eat a salad, nuts, or seeds again when I put my foot down. That time the "miracle cure" was the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. As long as I stay away from NSAIDs I'm fine; I can eat anything I want. Meloxicam is the only NSAID that hasn't caused bleeding - no problems.

When you mentioned that your feet became red in the summer it makes me think that you do not have neuropathy, but rather have Erythromelalgia. Erythromelalgia is often treated with Asprin. People with Erythromelalgia sometimes get great relief with high doses of Asprin. Its a rare disease often misdiagnosed as something else....I know because I have it.

Default Interesting post

Hi All,

I suffer from PN and take gabapentin (900 mg) at night with mild relief. Mine is related to nerve damage from the stenosis I had.

The aspirin idea sounds interesting and as to the a dose of 500mg, 2 regular tablets are 325mg each and the adult dose is 2 tablets every 4 hours for pain. In my opinion, if someone doesn't have an allergy, bleeding tendencies, on a blood thinner, and take it with food, it shouldn't be a problem. If anyone has any concerns, they should ask their physician.

I used to take Bextra and got really good relief with that and then they took it off the market. Aspirin is the oldest NSAID and I'm going to give it a try.

Thanks for the info!

Rhonda

Mrs. D:

Could you please tell me exactly what to ask for in terms of getting the Alka-Seltzer with Aspirin ... I would like to try it for my diffuse small-fiber neuropathy.

Thank you as always!

Lightbulb

When very severe I use a full packet which contains two effervescent tablets, at bedtime.

But in the past I have used one tablet, and carefully folding the foil packet up over the remaining one, daily.

As I said before I never used it EVERY day, but in bursts of
3-7 days during flares. I don't want to use aspirin every day, with the risk of cerebral microbleeds that hit the news a couple of years ago, regarding daily aspirin regimens.

With the AlkaSeltzer form I have no GI side effects at all. I think the AlkaSeltzer blasts your metabolism that causes the burning in the feet. Mine always seems to stop for a while with it. I buy mine generically at WalMart.... it is so inexpensive that way, you wouldn't believe.

Default avoid side effects

Aspirin is just an anti inflammatory. Why not get at the cause and avoid side effects at the same time? Use a homeopathic.

*edit*

Note: Most of my fellow podiatrists would consider me the idiot because I did not blame it on ingrown toenails.

when someone tells you homeopathics are a fraud; read the testimonial pages
