Default Just got my Nerve Conduction Study! BZZZZZZZ

Wow, the boards is busy today! Mel, hugs to you and Alan! Hope you are getting everything ironed out with his hospital stay! I'm sure the nurses will LOVE your muffins! Lupin, I'm sorry your Neuro shuffled you out! I hope the English board members can give you better advice! That's very frustrating! I hope you have better luck with your GP.

I just left my Neuro's partner who gave me a Nerve Conduction Study. OUCH! I guess ouch is a good thing. But C'mon! I feel I just tested out the new Tazer gun for the police dept!

However, I drove back to work with tears in my eyes. Good news and bad news. The doc says, your results say "You are still within the "normal" range of the scale" I said WHAT? IF I'M IN THE NORMAL RANGE, THE WHERE THE HECK IS ALL THIS PAIN COMING FROM? She responded , "However, your results do show that your range is markedly lower than last year, so you definitely have Idiopathic PN"

The average conduction was between 3.4 and 3.8, is that "good" or "bad"?
Oh, and if you haven't had one of these, the behind the knee one is like stepping into a wading pool full of electric eels! They did mine lying down, and they had a brand new machine, so everything was automated... but whoooo, it didn't make it any less painful! The one behind the knee tingled in my toes for a good 30 seconds after she stopped!

I'm very sad because it is still progressing. I'm frustrated because the doctors aren't giving me enough information on how to deal with it! I'm still working Raising my granddaughter (3 yrs old), supporting my 2 daughters who are in college (20 and 22) and single! CALGON! Take me away! Or at least a loving man.... heck I've given up on the handsome guy with the white horse....He has too many princesses in his life !

Just a little "hope" would be good! Something to look forward to would be nice! I just feel like I'm walking up a really big hill with a rope tied around my waist and someone keeps adding weights to the other end without telling me! Oh yea, and I have PN, so my feet hurt really really bad! Sometimes my daughters help me pull the weights up the hill, and sometimes they just sit down and let me do all the pulling by myself. Most of the time, it's by myself! But if I don't keep pulling it all up the hill, we will all go tumbling down and everyone I love will end up at the bottom in a heap with no place to live and no food! We're about 1/2 a paycheck away from that right now! I'm borrowing to pay this months rent. I haven't had to borrow money for over 10 years! I HATE to have to borrow money!

O.K. enough whining... Anyway, it's been a tough month, and the doctors aren't giving me any news that makes it any easier... You all are also not having it any better... so I think it's time for a big fat group hug!

The last time (and believe me, it will be my last time), I had a nerve conduction test was about 7 years ago when I had some kind of problem with my arm and my doctor sent me for this test. I had previously had them when I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel years and years ago. I had remembered it was not the most pleasant of tests.

So there I was in this office, sitting on the table and this nurse comes over with what looked like a cattle prod. She just touched me once on my arm and I said "ow". She did it again a little higher and I said 'OW"

When she did it a third time on a different part of my arm, I jumped off the table and told her "if you come at me one more time with that thing, I'll punch you in your face". Honestly, lille ole me, little old nice Melody, with the kind smile and muffins, I actually threatened a nurse.

She just sighed and said "yes, I know, sometimes this test can be unpleasant".

I immediatly went on the bus back to my doctor's office (this was WAY before Dr. Fred) I burst into my doctor's office and started yelling "Are you nuts, sending me there"??? He just looked at me and sighed.

Yeah, I know. Sighs all around.

And Dr. Fred wants me to go for a colonscopy yet!!!!!!!!!

Someday, not now, but someday.

I'm doing the stress test first.

Haven't heard from hubby yet. I hope he's still alive in the hospital room.
