Default Pain running from under left arm to knee

I have DX of PN which shows up in various places in body mostly in waist, abdomen, legs, and arms.

Yesterday was an extra bad day. Late in the day I noticed pain that seemed to run a line from under left arm by armpit down to knee. It was almost like and electric shock type pain.

I feel better today. I was almost afraid I was having a stroke. Anyone ever hear of this. I am on 1600 mg of gabapentin per day. Pain PA says max I can be on is 2700 mg per day.

Default Key to it all is ....

IS it on one side only or both! IF BOTH and the progression has taken less than a month to 'sort of "move up" your body'? Call your doc and complain constructively that it's moving UP and FAST!
Tests should be done asap for autoimmune possibilities and believe me? I DO KNOW that pain all too well. And it does scare you silly and beyond!
I HAD a neruo [note the 'had'?] who kept upping the neurontin/gabapentin to the point where I was sleepling 18 hours a day in 2 hour stints and had hallucinations to boot. When I talked to that 'had' neuro? What'd he do? UPped the dosage again! I didn't. Don't know about you? I did NOT like being a zombie! Ergo. Went and got first and second opinions... the two in concert worked out and got ME an autoimmune neuropathy diagnosis and treatments. I believe I can walk independetly because of those later 'opinions!
I truly hope you live in a city or region where you CAN get other opinions tho! Otherwise it can get tricky. Many here have suffered from that aspect.
I wish you luck and hope in finding a new neruo. A good site to check is:
http://health.usnews.com/best-hospit...d-neurosurgery Good site to check out lots of docs! BTW.
Keep faith in yourself that something IS wrong? And you're not gonna be brushed off w/meds. There has to be some LIFE besides meds and/or pain!
Hope and good things too! 's!!!!!!!! - j

How long did that type pain last? Has it happened before? Did you do anything different in your day or was it out of the blue? The doctor who dx you with PN was a neurologist? Could you call him or her?
For msyelf I don't have this but I often have new issues or pains. It is hard to know when to call the doctor and when to not. I think it is always better to be safe then sorry.
Hope you find relief with neurontin. How long have you been on it?

Thank you all for replies. I have been on gabapentin for about one year. I didn't do anything different that day as I recall. I feel better today as well as yesterday. The weather was cold and rainy Sat and Sun. I never thought of weather as having any effect on pain so perhaps it was a coincidence.

You are right about when to call a doctor or not. I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac. The pain was a brief pain.

I think what happened it was one of those electric shock types of pains. I had more of them when I was on a lower dose of gaba. Now I am on higher dose the shocks have mostly gone away. So probably this was a fluke type of pain.

I have been to a lot of doctors and I think autoimmune type of disorders have been ruled out. I had a ANA blood test among others.
