Default Vitamin b1... mrs D

Hello

I found my blood test that was done august last year. I asked the doc and she said it's fine.

But here are the numbers
Vit b1 plasma. 4.1 range 4.0-20.0
Isnt that low??

Should I repeat? That's the first time it was done.

B6. 14.4 range 2.0-32.8

Looking forward to your input.
My recent b12 was in 1000

Thankyou

It certainly cannot hurt to try and raise the B1.

Being low in B1 can cause neuropathy type symptoms, and for many years B1 was a common treatment for PN.

I'd do the Benfotiamine form. But you can try the less expensive B1 in stores to see if it helps first. Do 200 to 300mg a day in divided doses, for a month and see what happens.

If you see some improvement then you can switch to the Benfotiamine form which is not excreted so rapidly like the plain one is.

Were you taking a multivitamin when you had that test? If so that may be why you tested low normal. There is Thiamine in multivitamin mixtures, but in low dose.

The only one you have to take alone on an empty stomach is the B12.

YOu can take the B1 with food or any time.

Many women still having menstrual periods are low in ferritin.
Ferritin is the storage form for iron. If you are not eating meat, or you have low acid in the stomach it cannot be absorbed well.

If your other CBC tests were normal, it just means you are using more stored iron for your needs than taking in.

When ferritin is really high that is the time to worry.
