Rafi:

The person (on Alan's side of the family) who won't get on bridges, well they are on an anti-depressants for over 25 years, and ativan, and I have no idea what else. They also live on antacids. Pepsid, Gaviscon and they only drink boiled water with each meal.

They do not use salt, won't go near it. They never drink any soda. But the antacid thing, I really don't understand that. I rarely and I mean rarely have ever used a pepsid, or anything like that.

Does this person have agoraphobia and are they getting help??? Well, I can answer one of the questions.... They have never gone for therapy, counseling or anything like that. This person has worked all their life and now is retired. This is the most kindest person I have ever met.

Now some people might consider this person to be neurotic (with all the antacids, anti-depressants, and unwillingness to get in a car or go on bridges).

Me??? I don't judge anybody. I think this person is wonderful, made up of quirks, etc. So if popping pepsid, axid, gaviscon, drinking boiled water all the time, (never coffee, tea or soda), and takes ativan to go anyplace, I tell myself, (WELL, THEY ARE AT LEAST GOING SOMEPLACE, RIGHT??) I honestly never thought of the agoraphobia thing. I do know they will not go anywhere there are too many people, crowds, etc. So I think you are right on the money with the agoraphobia thing.

Boy, life is interesting isn't it???

be well

Okay Mel, I just have one thing to say:LASER DENTIST!!
My granddaughter just got seven cavities filled in one sitting, no novacaine!
I love the guy, he goes all over the world and to third world countries teaching the laser technique.
My daughter had a nasty sore in her mouth, took her to the doc and they gave her some rinse that did nothing. In desparation I called him, he saw her right away and lasered the sore, it was gone overnight, and was fuming mad at the doc.
He is the busiest guy around and top notch, imagine that in a little corner of Northwest Montana. I am no longer phobic or rather wanting to give birth than go to the dentist. My older sister terrorized me when I was about four about the dentist and I would get physically ill from it, why I believed her I'll never know.

PN Studies. EMG'S NERVE CONDUCTION TEST!!!.Let's put it this way. I've been a diabetic for 20 years. Last year the tips of my toes were numb (I had no idea). So my endo says "oh, you have the begginings of neuropathy. I took it seriously because I've been going to Cornell for almost 3 years now. First my sugar was 400 when I got there. Now, this morning it's 110. So these guys know what they're doing. They also explained to me "melody, you are diabetic and there might be a morning when you wake up and it's 190, and that's because YOU ARE DIABETIC" I understood but that has happened only once in the 3 years.

Only if I absolutely have to, will I let another person do the emg to me. I didn't like it one bit!!!

I am absolutely strict in my diet and take no chances.

Then, as I said, I went to the podiatrist, he did the vibration tool thing, and BAMM, full blown PN. Now I have no idea if this guy set off a chain of events that has begun my PN to erupt.

But last night, well that was funny. I'm laying down watching tv and my feet, well, let's just say they were going all over the place. A little burning, a little buzzing and then my right calf was twitching (the muscle). I just stayed and noticed all the symptoms and I said "what the hell is going on that this is happening". All of a sudden, we get a big thunderstorm, it starts to rain and all my symptoms got better in two seconds.

I run into the living room to where Alan was sitting and I said" "You are the expert in neuropathy, this is ALL NEW TO ME. What is going on with the weather and the thunderstorms and just now my legs and feet feel better?

He just smiled sadly and said 'welcome to the world of PN", this is only the tip. Let's just hope you don't get to the point that I did when I had to go on the fentanyl" I just said "oh my god". Then I looked at him and said "this is not going to get ME, I'm going to get IT. I'm on B-12".

Alan just shook his head.

jeeeez.
