Default Peripheral neuropathy heat

I am trying to treat a peripheral neuropathy from a thiamine deficiency that happened from food intolerance malabsorption. As many with PN know, the nerves heat up at night. My abdomen and GI tract and back were inflamed and I wondered what people did to keep the heat down. I've tried lying on an ice pack but there must be something to take for tissue inflammation that won't aggravate the GI tract or nerves.
