"Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired immune-mediated inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nervous system."
"The pathologic hallmark of the disease is loss of the myelin sheath (the fatty covering that insulates and protects nerve fibers) of the peripheral nerves." "CIDP is under-recognized and under-treated." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic...polyneuropathy Came across this while researching inflammatory nerve issues. Thought it might be worth a look for anyone with idiopathic PN and suspected myelin problems.
