Default Imuran

I spoke with my rheumo this morning because my pain has just gotten so bad. He apparently thinks it is lupus because the assistant called me and said he wants me to start Imuran. She states he believes it will help with both my PN and lupus. No positive testing for lupus. He did mention last time I was in that he would not be surprised if I eventually tested positive for it.
This pain is just getting so bad. I had to take off work yesterday and really should probably not be here today. Lately, I feel like cryng because I don't sleep due to the pain. I think I can bear it much better if I sleep.
Well anyway now that I am done venting I would like to know if anyone here has ever taken Imuran. One of the nurses I work with said they used it a lot for transplant patients. I did just stop my plaqunil so maybe this is close to the same medication. I did look it up because I was not fimiliar and it does not seem to have too many s/e.
I also started R-Lipoic Acid yesterday. I was hoping for time to see if that works. I guess now I will not know if it is that or the Imuran. I am also wondering if they may be contraindicated. Any help anyone can give is appreciated. I hope this makes sense very little sleep the last 3 nights!

Imuran is the "big guns" . It is stronger than Plaquenil.

It eventually depresses white cells, and that is how it works.

Some of our myasthenia gravis patients use it ... I'd search it here for more details.

IMO Plaquenil is less toxic than Imuran. But that is only my opinion.

HI, I had to stop the Plaquenil. I did go to the MG site and got some good info. I am hoping I get the IVIG and can stop the Imuran in the very near future. Thanks!!

Hi hopeful,

I don't know anything about the drug they are giving you, but I will be praying for you and I hope you will find the answers to your pain, it's so hard not knowing what is the cause of all this. Hang in there. Blessings, Jan
