Well, neither of those tests would have found my PN back when.

Hypothyroidism won't show up on either test.

Kind of a superficial article IMO.

Nerves need T3?

Hypothyroid leads to deposition of a tissue factor along the wrists and ankles and leads to compression neuropathy. It was a very painful long time for me back then!

T3 is needed by all tissues in the body...not just the nerves.

I got carpal tunnel in both wrists shortly before PN in my feet. I'd wake up every night and my hands would be numb. Is this often an early sign?

Yes it can be. I use wrist splints when my hands get bad.

Usually they are ok, but if I use them alot, or say my right one alot I have to go back to my splints for a while. (I've been doing a sewing project...very small but enough to set off my right hand).
