Default Restylane vital face filler and nerve damage?

Hi
Reading the previouse response to my post it was mentioned vaccines and the effects it has on children. I have another question.
I had a form of face filler around the eyes and cheeks, called restylane vital injected in my face nearly 2 years ago.

I had 3 lots of dizzy/forty kind of spells lasting for 3 weeks at a time since and some mini ones in between. Which is what sent me to the neuro in the first place. When he did some tests on me back then he wrote l had early signs of PN, but he didn't,t mention it to me at the time and l only found out now.
Don't know why he wouldn't mention it to me.

Anyway, do you think that having this filler put in my face it could have caused some nerve damage?

Thanks sue

If you had events after the injections, I would consider them. It would be difficult to PROVE however.

Here is an article on the net, that says these injections can cause pain:
http://www.restylanesideeffects.org/...-good-and-bad/

Nerves are tricky things. Nerve damage, will cause reactions in some people and not others depending on the immune system and allergic potential that person has. RSD is a case in point.
A trauma, or surgery in the foot or knee or anywhere for some people begins a cascade of nerve reactions in the sympathetic nervous system that is extremely painful and affects the circulation of the blood in that area as well. It is thought that inflammatory cytokines formed from the nerve damage circulate in the body and then attack other nervous tissue elsewhere.
Once the pain cycle begins it is very difficult to turn off and many people with RSD have it for life.

Autoimmune nerve damage happens in MS also. In that case the myelin is attacked, which is the fatty insulation of the long nerves in the body. There are autoimmune neuropathies that are rapidly progressive, and one is called GBS..and follows viral illnesses or vaccines.

As we decode the human genome, we will find the genetic markers that are involved in these autoimmune disorders.
I just saw on the Science channel yesterday a show where a doctor found genetic markers on a man's cells that prevented him from getting AIDs back when the hemophilia treatments were all contaminated. This fellow, did not get AIDs at all, so his genetics were studied and this doctor then found that survivors of the plague in Europe (in Eyams England) also had this marker and allowed these particular people to not develop plague during the epidemic! So I think we will find more genetic things that are involved in other disorders and diseases.
It explains why one person is affected by something, and another is not.

Default Glad to hear

I suppose thereis really nothing l can do about it now. But l do often wonder how would have felt if l never did this stupid procedure.

I deeply regret it, and just wish l never messed with my health.

It may be a long while before they find it kind of cure for this. So managing and being hopeful this will settled down and not get worse is my only hope.

Thanks so much for your replies.

Thanks so much for that link. Isn't it interesting how l thought l did my homework before l had this procedure. This doesn't even include the women who don't report adverse effects like me.

Driving home from this procedure, l remember l was a bit dizzy, and didn't think much of it, but then a week later l had the biggest anxiety attack in my life. I thought l was going die, and thats where it all started. Ever since then l have been on a roles coaster ride with my health.
First bouts of dizziness lasting for a few weeks and then ear problems, and now this.

It's been 1.5 years of having this done, I would have thought my body would have got rid of it by now, but it has probably damaged my nerves in the process of elimination.
Two weeks after l had this done, l went back, and requested the, to dissolve it, with some solution. So he put more needles in my face. I am not sure it dissolved much except my own collagen.

I wonder if there is a way l can know for sure if any of this is still in my body?
Maybe there is a blood test or something. Even if there is l suppose the damage has been done.

I also had 2 Botox sessions around the same time. It could have been either or both. I would say it was the restylane.

I actually had the restylane Vital. The plastic surgeon sais we have it in our bodies, and it draws water the site where injected and that's how it smooths out wrinkle. I wonder if that is different to restylane. When l told the plastic surgeon l was unwell since having it done, he said he has never come across it, and that l will go down as a statistic.

You know l would rather have a wrinkly face anyway than feel unwell.

My husband thinks it has nothing to do with it. And even if it did, what's done is done and there is nothing l can do. It wonder if there is l can actually do.

You know, there is another substance "we have normally in our bodies" that when injected, creates autoimmune responses.

It is a common adjuvant in vaccines..and is called squalene.

Squalene is in our livers and in olive oil that we eat. So it is thought to be "harmless" in the same way. But when injected into the body, it causes inflammation (the desired immune stimulating response) and is thought now to be a trigger for serious illness in some people.

This debate still rages on today...the pro-vaccine industry claiming squalene is "safe" and other doctors, like Dr. Blaylock and Dr. Mercola say no, it is not safe when injected.

http://www.fluscam.com/Squalene_Poison.html

But we do see increased numbers of young men on our MG forum, whereas men didn't acquire MG until after age 50, in the past. MG is an autoimmune disease. And younger and younger people are coming here to PN as the years pass.

So the active ingredient in Restylane may have a similar complex profile, and become allergenic when injected.

Botox for example has a scandal attached to it also. Allergan lost a huge liability suit from a damaged man who received Botox and the appropriate warnings were not given by Allergan to doctors.
http://www.beasleyfirm.com/tag/aller...tox-liability/

http://www.robertreeveslaw.com/blog/...fects-on-brain

People are unique from each other in many ways, and these new injections are not necessarily safe for "everyone". Some people do react in idiosyncratic fashion to injected substances.

So it is difficult to say about your injections. But if you were fine before, and have had difficulties only after receiving them, that appears significant to me. You do know your own body.

I think perhaps you have discovered a major trigger for yourself with these products. Add in the dietary triggers, and I don't think you
are idiopathic anymore. I would suggest you follow up on
autoimmune testing therefore as something may show up there, in the blood work.

MrsD, you are a wealth of information! I did not know that Allergan was the maker of Botox. Allergan also makes a number of products for eye care from solutions for contact lens wearers to use to eye medications. I don't wear contacts any more but I certainly hope they keep these two departments separate from the Botox! Joan

I am using Restasis and Refresh for 2 years now. I searched online if there are any neurological side effects for these two eye solutions...I have not seen one...I really hope that it does not cause PN.

You know after going back and thinking about all this yesterday l became so anxious. I know l need to do extensive research in finding if l can cure what may have been caused by a reaction to the restylane. If l googled this alone, l could find other women who have experienced the same as l have. But what that does for me, is increase my anxiety triple fold, and l end up having panic attack when l think or research this, as l know l will come across stories of others who's lives have been ruined as a result of injections. I know when l was researching breast implants years ago, (thank god, l didn't get that done), there were many women complaining of all kinds of diseases, one of them l remember which was quiet common, was Lupus.
That was enough to scare me off the entire thing. Mind you l came very close to being talked into it by the Plastic Surgeon, but in my gut, l knew it was wrong. As l did with this as well. I knew it wasn't for me, but thought l would take the chance anyway.

Now l need to find a way out. I need to know that there is a way out, otherwise l will go crazy. But if l google it, l was be panicked. So l need to just read it for what it is and try and find a solution and stay calm, and remind myself l can help myself.
If Restylane is the cause, then surely there must be a way, l can find out if it is still in my system, and learn how the body actually eliminates these products.
I was thinking if l took and Aspirin each day, maybe it would thin out my blood and get stop from any remaining Restylane from sticking to my nerves or other parts of my body? Or something like this. I know this sounds too simple but one must start somewhere.

Two week after having the injections, l had Hyaluronidase injected in the same areas, to dissolve the restylane. He mixed it with water. Not sure how much he used, l notice some of my collagen was also dissolved on my face, as it looks a bit hollow under my right eye, and it remains that way. Not sure if l did more damage to myself by doing this, but in the state l was in, l needed to just get it out of me.

I have already had some blood tests done, and will get results this week. But is there a specific kind of test l need to ask for? You were saying autoimmune testing. Exactly what kind of test is that?

As far as l am concerned, l don't' think the plastic surgery industry has any kind of regulation. If it approved by the FDA or not, l don't care. They have made so many mistakes, and some are unforgivable. They don't seem to be liable for any of it either, which makes me furious. As this is the case, l don't believe there would be anybody trained enough to help people like us. Who if anyone has done any kind of research on these products? Probably nobody. These fillers and implants haven't been around for that long, (look what happened to the french Implant manufacture), to know what effects these are going to have on the human body. Its all money making and l don't trust any plastic surgeons, when they say its safe. I just wish l knew who could help me to find out what l can do to lead a normal life again, and feel healthy again. I would fly anywhere and pay anyone to get help. I am just not sure they even exist.

This morning when l couldn't sleep at 5am, l was thinking about all this Restylane stuff l had, and l took 1/2 a herbal supplement my Naturopath gave me, and it totally calmed me down, and was able to just rest for another 2 hours, which is what l used to be like. I am not as anxious, and feel strong enough to fight this at the moment, but the way l felt yesterday, was terrible. My mind just doesn't stop thinking, what if l can never feel normal again, what if l have to live like this forever, what if, what if? Its because l feel so lousy.
I am not like this all the time. I have my good patches and bad patches an this a bad patch. Only because l am thinking about all this Restylane thing again.

Sorry for rambling, feels better now.
Nice to know you are here.

I know how you feel. Worrying about this.

It is very hard to say. Some people are prone to autoimmune reactions following viral illnesses, and some injections and vaccines. This has to due with nerve tissue damage, and then the body makes antibodies to the nerve receptors and causes inflammation. Vaccine injury is the most common form of this.

People who genetically have specific markers may be more prone to this type of reaction. We had a fellow here who had a reaction to H1N1 vaccine. He was from Canada, and his doctors gave him steroids to take down the inflammation.

You could test yourself with therapeutic dose aspirin, for 2 or 3 days and see if you are better. That would reveal an inflammatory process going on. Some of our posters here use aspirin 500mg a dose useful. Just be careful with it, and get a good brand that dissolves quickly. There is a new Bayer fast dissolve here, but I don't know if you have it there. Take aspirin with lots of water.

I wouldn't expect doctors to be very helpful as they know very little about these injections, etc.

As I have mentioned before, some PNs resolve on their own. They run a "course" of sorts.

Don't get so stressed you make yourself worse!
