In other words, people like me are more at risk! ;)

With all your supplements your BBB should be in good shape.;)

I question why you had a UTI? Could you be diabetic? I had several before I got my glucose into control, just wondering.

Aussiemom, I a not diabetic or pre diabetic. I have always had great testing and I also do not eat sugar/bad carbs. Some women just get them more than others. I upped my Dmannose so that should be good.

Mrs D. What is BBB?

mrsD 05-08-2012 05:01 PM

BBB= blood brain barrier.. This is in the blood vessels that go to
the brain, and keeps things out of the brain (viruses, bacteria, drugs, peptides like gluten etc). The BBB can become permeable with age or poor diet or poor intake of essential fatty acids like Omega-3s.

Lipophilic substances and small molecules like anesthetics and alcohol, will cross... and explain how we can become intoxicated.

Oh yes, ha. Yes, I just didn't connect the initials.:)

I have found claritin to be quite effective, especially in the morning. Benadryl never worked quite well for as it was too sedating. Zyrtec is pretty good.

Zantac is really strong for a histamine blocker IMO. Famotidine and cimetidine are okay.

My BBB is not very good i assume, either because of past alcohol or drug use. But mostly I believe because of antiseizure medication. I use it for anxiety and pain, but overall it's not that great in terms of side effects.

MrsD, your story about nuking the brita pitcher with bleach was pretty interesting, I have a keurig at my house, and im pretty sure that needs some sort of cleaning. I will think of doing that.

Did you say - you use Famotidine and Cimetidine for anxiety and pain?

Just another way of cleaning Keurig....I use vinegar in cleaning our Keurig. I fill it up and soak it overnigth. It makes it easier to clean the calcifications.

No, I have occasional heartburn. Cimetidine is actually not that great, Can't think of the last time I used that one. But I have used it in the past. I was talking about my neurontin not H2 blockers or acid reducers.
