When you stop it, that is it. No more GI upset.
An A1C of 5.8 for an older person is very very good. Most doctors don't start treatment for diabetes until 7.0.

Ask for the extended release version. And take it with food. It takes a while to build up to be effective, the "met mambo" can come quite a bit sooner. Start low, and gradually work up, if you don't have the side effects. I couldln't take it either.

I thought I would start by taking one then build up to the 2nd one , as I don't need that to hit while i'm teaching on Monday and Tues so then by Wednesday if no reaction I'll go to two a day. I just got the prescription yesterday , leaving in a bit to run errands so will start at dinner . Husband was on Metformin for about 6 months ( did excellent now just diet and exercise and has been 5 years ) he didn't have any upset , if anyone would he would lol. So I hope not to but if I do I'll have to work around it I guess for a brief time but it will be worth it to get things on the right track .
