I will try to find out if podiatrists are covered under my insurance. But, first, I will try to get an X-ray request for my feet. The reason why I asked what to look for in an x-ray because I thought the doctor would put this in this their request, sort of ruling out or ruling in certain conditions. And I noticed that as a matter of maybe practice, the x-ray technicians normallly ask the patient what is the complain. Just to make sure, I will mention all the possible conditions you mentioned above to my PCP when I put in my request for the x-ray. Our stationary bicycle looks like a recumbant bike. When you use it, it does not put so much pressure or weight on the feet. Thank you for mentioning that.... |

The pain I get is very similar to what you can't describe! I just figured it was from a combination of things, and since I can't spend a lot of time on my feet anyway, it hasn't been as pressing a problem for me. I can definitely appreciate how it could/would be though... Doc

I tell you, Doc, I also bought that gel-like products from the pharmacies sold by a popular brand (I am not sure if I can mention the brand), well, I am not sure if its helping, but it is better than the supposed custom-made sole-insert. The expensive insert was creating more pain than relief!!! |

I am curious when you say "custom made". Do you mean someone was there who took a molded cast of your foot? Or did you stand on a machine type thing that said what # you needed? And then you picked it from the array they had stacked there. If that is true then there is no way that it would work as your feet are different.
The gel like products to put into your shoes worked great for me for awhile and then not so much anymore. Thanks.

The pain is typically is the worst with standing and walking and relieved by rest. Some will complain of deep achy pain, others complain of a constant burning. There can be radiating pain, electrical pain or numbness. Many people will describe the feeling of their sock bunched up under their foot or feeling of walking on a lump or a ball. A "twang" feeling, like a guitar string, is another common complaint. I have all of the above symptoms except for the "sock bunched up under the feet". I wonder if neuromas sensation can go up the legs and be be symmetrical. When you had the nerve compression due to hypothyroidism, was it on both feet or just on one foot? Did your pain went up your leg or was it limited to your foot (or feet)? Thank you Mrs.D for your patience |

When my hypothyroidism was doing its "thing" it was equal on both feet. I also had it in my hands.
My feet hurt MORE at night when I get off my feet. Pain that gets worse with standing and walking, is very different, IMO. A carefully made orthotic from a podiatrist here is over $300.00. Probably more now. I bought a pair for my son who had some pronation issues, and they fixed it right up. He was walking so much at college he was becoming incapacitated by the pain.

I knew right after using it for a month that it wont help. But, at the time I bought it, I was just new with my neurological symptoms so I grabbed (desperate) every opportunity which I thought would help. |
