Jeez Bob, you must have come down pretty hard mate to make your knee bruise & swell, one consultation i suppose, its better that it happening inside on the carpet than outside on the concrete ouch !!

We have an old 18 year cat thats always had a bad habit of walking right in front of ya & getting in between your legs and tripping ya up, but when i come home from hospital with 2 crutches, she done the same trick again but this time i couldn't balance my way out the way and she got all my weight of on one crutch on her little paw, jeeeez, she screamed out and took off like a bullet, she is ok nothing broken thank god, she wouldn't come near me for the rest of that day but the next day, back to her old tricks again.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. And like the others I hope you aren't seriously injured. Little dogs can get you, I know. I have 3 of them and am always grabbing a wall or a piece of furniture trying to dodge them.

I've a 17 year old cat that's the same way, too.
Now I've got a little beagle and a Russian Blue, that are
bound & detrermined to kill me!
We rescued this ***** from a labrotory cage. She had to be fostered and socialized for 4 months before we got her. She's a loving little pooch that always wants atttention, but we can't figure out exactly how she wants it. She won't cuddle up to us, cause she never had human contact- and really is just learning how to play, cause she was in that cage since she was a puppy.For 2 1/2 years, she only had human contact when they let her out to exercise or 'do her business'.
She does sleep on the bed at nite, not in close contact, but she has to be near. I wake with two paws on my chest and a nose in my nose, when she thinks I've slept enough and its time to scratch her ears or her belly. She will hold still for a while for that, but when she doesn't want to walk on her leash or sees a stranger- she lays down on her back with her belly & paws in the air. We hired a professional 'dog whisperer' to help us with her, & she's come a long way since Sept. He can get her to do anything, the very first time- its amazing.
All we have to do- is try to get her to do the same thing for us.

Well.......... I'm kinda sensitive about my weight. I was 220 before Lyrica (and the need for a lot of prune juice)! It helps with the pain, but I've had to compromise. I'm tryin to lose, but its not working well.

Billye, Rose, Mrs D, Glenn ........thankfully I seem to be OK & went back to work today, just no kneeling on that knee for awhile (I tend to 'get down' to my work). I'll keep an eye out to see if there's any residual effects for the next week or so- but I think I'll live.

Yes, that's the word. Everything was so magnified in the symptoms. Its weird, PN can make me numb and I have to watch out for things- cause I examine my legs and feet every day, and I find scrapes or bruises or cuts or .........whatever - and I've no idea when or how it happened. Total surprise!
But this came home..... BIG TME! Didn't realize how severe it would feel. And it was comparatively minor.
Boy, I sure hope that I really never have anything happen that is certainly very painful to the 'normal' person.
I can't imagine how I'd react. They probably would think I
was faking it!

But thanks y'all - for your concern. I'm glad I've got this place to come to when I have things like this happen. My wife even really doesn't understand - and she's a R.N. w/a B.S. in nursing, and over 40 years in the profession.
I appreciate this community.......greatly.

Well I am late to the uh, party?? - oops - not really. But I just have to say that your attitude is absolutely . . . well, you know . . . just the greatest . . . I am sure there is some word or words that should apply right now - but the applicator is stuck.

So, the best I can do at the moment is wish you well. And as long as you maintain that kind of an attitude, I ain't gonna worry. I am sure you will let the group know if we ever need to REALLY worry about you. So far you have handled things that most of the rest of us will, fortunately, never get to experience.

ABSOLUTELY PROMISE ME that you will get an x-ray of that knee by an orthopod Monday! My case just before Turkey day is why I hope you will.

Fell, went to 'urgent care' [an oxymoronic misnomer in my book] after 4 hours, it was first determined I'd broken my foot...HUH? I'm here for my KNEE, the foot was LAST YEAR! Huh? OOH! You're right. DUH. Fractured knee-cap. OK. Can deal with that....so I thought.

Well, after visit to the orthopedist the next day, all indicated I should be able to put weight on that leg in 10-20 days...No can do? At least, not very happily. Another x-ray, and well what ya know? Fractured the knee bone too! It only showed up once it started to heal.

Don't forget ever, that neurontin, lyrica and keppra and all those other things come with the price of CALCIUM DEPLETION...ask any dentist about epileptics and their teeth...that's where it showed up first for me.

In the meantime, take whatever painkillers you need, don't brave it, be super duper careful and ASK for F/U pt... Docs never think of it?

Well Bob, I guess we all have stories. Five years ago, I fell over my son's 96# black lab, Ceasar. I had let Ceasar out when I went to bed, it was May and he wanted to lay on the porch. When I woke in the early morning, it was still dark and I walked into the kitchen for something. When I went back to my bedroom, Ceasar had moved to my doorway and I dove right over top of him. I landed on me left knee and my face. The next spring, I got cellulitis in that same knee, never had anything hurt so much in my entire life. So yup, we understand.
