Hi there,
Have no dx yet but reading on here, it seems my symptoms closely match PN - started with pins & needles/numb spots in feet and legs - this eventually eased off but then moved to hands & fingers. Just when I thought things were improving I have been feeling a bit dizzy/spaced out today. I'm ok laying on the sofa but when I walk around I definitely feel slightly off balance. Is this a symptom of PN or could it be something else? I'm on Naproxen for backache and taking multi vits with iron +b complex but no other meds. Appt with neuro at the end of next week. Luckily I'm on holiday til sept but I feel like I'm wasting the summer sitting around feeling sorry for myself. |

--dizziness can certainly result from some types of autonomic neuropathy, though it can also result from a lot of other causes.
Often, people with autonomic neuropathy can have problems with sweat production and with postural hypotension (a fainting feeling upon changing position too rapidly, as the small autonomic nerves are too damaged to compensate by moving blood around the body quickly), as well as with gastric motility. Many people with small fiber syndromes have some autonomic involvement (especially if diabetes is the cause), though this is often minor/subclinical: http://neuromuscular.wustl.edu/senso...tml#idiopathic http://neuromuscular.wustl.edu/autonomic.html |

Thanks for that Glenntaj I'll check out those links later.
Feeling worse today - my pins & needles symptoms have eased considerably but I have the mother of all headaches!!! So once again I'm spending the day on the sofa. |

Might be a good idea to get checked for diabetes/pre-diabetes (5-hr. glucose tolerance test). Swings in blood sugar levels can cause dizziness in some folks, as well as bring on PN.
Thyroid? Doc

Thanks - I've had blood tests already - I think I was checked for diabetes & thyroid already but I'll double check at my appointment next week.
