Default Genetic testing denied by Excellus

3 months ago my neurologist said that he was considering further genetic testing. Well since that time insurance has decided to no longer cover the cost. He submitted it anyway and I got the rejection letter saying I would have to come up with the $17910.00 up front. My doctor seemed to think that this kind of testing looking at strand by strand of DNA could show the cause. However he said even with that there would not be a treatment. So should I be disappointed or what. It also scares me to think about what will happen in the future if they start to ration care. Are some of us going to be hung in limbo? I joked with a co worker today who is a healthy 65 year old getting ready for bunyon surgery. I jokingly told her, get it now before they start just giving out crutches in lew of surgery.
