Default Alan has nerve damage in his ears.

Hi.

Well, he went to an audiologist yesterday. Even though he has impacted wax and dried blood (his doctor tried to remove the was 2 weeks ago by flushing with warm water, but there was TOO much and it was impacted.

So we went to a local audiologist yesterday and they confirmed the wax and a bit of dried blood but they gave him a special nerve test and determined that he has severe nerve damage in one ear and moderate nerve damage in the other.

He needs two hearing aids.

We are going to a ear nose and throat guy next week to see about getting the rest of the stuff out of his ears.

The audiologist said yesterday that the wax in his ears has nothing to do with his nerve damage. I told her he has peripheral neuropathy in his feet and could it be related?

She looked at me and said 'We never really know why there is nerve damage"

So .....what to do!!!!.

First we go and get the stuff out of his ears and THEN we go to the participaing hearing aid provide that works with his insurance.

Sure, he'll get a discount but these things costs THOUSANDS of dollars.

Yesterday the audiologist put a hearing aid in (not IN) but close enough) and programmed it and his eyes lit up and he said 'Holy S, I can hear"

So my question to you (and I"ve been looking on the internet but there are SO many), do any of you know of an organization that helps people who can't afford hearing aids, actually get them. Even refurbished ones?

I mean, i"m doing my research but if any of you have had first hand experience, maybe you can share and I can contact them.

I'm tired of shouting everything in this house. lol

Thanks much

Melody
