Thanks.

I am not advising your wife one way or another to take or not to take the COVID-19 vaccine. I am just telling what happened to me after taking the first dose of the Moderna Covid vaccine 8 weeks ago. I never had any neuropathy whatsoever before the vaccine. I now have tingling and numbness in all 4 of my extremities and bulging veins in same. I have been to the ER, pcp, neurologist, and was put on gabapentin. In my research I came across this site and noticed the similarities between some people getting the rabies vaccine and then getting neuropathy and what happened to me. I find it comforting that Eventually most of the acute neuropathy cases on here calmed down. Looking back in 20/20 hindsight I personally would have not gotten the Moderna vaccine. Again. It’s an individual choice and I am NOT giving advice on what anyone else should do.

I know this is an old thread, but looking for help. I had the rabies vaccine at the end of October of 2020 due to a dog bite. Then, in January of 2021 I began getting pain in my left leg. By the end of January, it was alternating between both legs. Then, the pain stopped, but I started getting sensory neuropathy, ( like I had BenGay or Vicks Vapor Rub icy hot)in both my feet. By April the neuropathy had spread over entire body except for my abdomen and breasts. In May the majority of the icy hot went away (still a little bit in my feet), to be replaced with partial numbness all over. In June, I noticed a slightly enlarged, scalloped tongue. I have also been having increased heart palpitations. Also, I have been having leg and arm pain that feels like aching in my bones or muscles.

My question is this: Did any of you all experience an enlarged or scalloped tongue as one of your symptoms? I fear a diagnosis of amyloidosis, since the enlarged tongue is a symptom of that, so I am hoping that one of y'all experienced the large tongue, so that it may ease my fears.

Thanks for any replies. I appreciate it.

Hi, I do have scalloped tongue from time to time, usually when I have a cold, but never associated this with the rabies vaccine.

I experienced most of the other symptoms you mentioned (e.g. pain in limbs, limb weakness, numbness etc) and a bunch of others. It seems to all randomly come and go, like transient inflammation that travels around the body. It has been just over 2 years since i received the rabies vaccine. My neurological issues peaked at about 6 months in, and started getting notably less 18 months in.

I do notice some residual effects like needing to shake my legs out in the morning before getting up, probably due to nerve damage. But I guess it could all be worse and don´t think too much of it anymore. Hope you feel better soon!

I’ve also experienced scalloped tongue, my doctor said it’s likely due stress/anxiety possibly dehydration. All my labs have come back normal. I never associated it with this vaccine.

I recently went to the ER because of heart palpitations and was cleared by both a cardiologist and my doctor. I don’t have the answer as to why, but did notice it began around the time of the vaccine, but honestly my anxiety has been super high since.

Be well 🤍

Default Vaccine

Don’t know if anyone is still on this thread but I recently started the rabies vaccine on 3/22/22. I had a possible exposure on 3/7 but there was a delay in the start of my vaccine so I keep worrying I started the vaccines too late. On 3/7 there was a weird chirping sound in my bedroom. I didn’t see anything but I didn’t look up at the ceiling or the tops of the windows because I had no idea it could possibly be a bat. A few days after I saw a small mark on my wrist. I googled and saw it could have been a bat and my anxiety spiraled. I went to two doctors and they told me I didn’t need the vaccine since I didn’t see a bat. We had pest control come out and they found bat droppings I’m the attic and that’s when I went to ER and started the shots. Since the shots (just had second on Friday) I have had pins and needles everywhere, throat is super dry and felt like I had a lump, and weird tight sensation in back of my neck. I’m just so scared I took the vaccine so late and am having extreme anxiety- went to the er recently for chest pains which the doctor said could be gerd or anxiety. This has been such a scary ordeal so far and I haven’t even finished all of the shots yet. I figured I’d post since it seems like you guys have experienced some of the same things.

I had a delayed start too, made me a nervous wreck, but I’m still here!

You should be done with you series by now, I hope you’re doing well!

Hi, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It is understandable you would be anxious. Hopefully some of the other members here who have experienced the rabies vaccine will come by soon to offer some more positive feedback and support than I can. In the meantime, maybe read some of the posts on the thread. It seems to me you're not the only person with the same worries and anxieties, but for many it has worked out well in time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the forums. take care.

Edited later to add>>>
I did some hunting. We don't have Rabies in Australia so wasn't sure if I was looking in the right places but I did finally find a US site from HHS.gov that explains that the Rabies Vaccine is an inactivated vaccine. i.e. not a Live Vaccine. You wouldn't get Rabies from the actual vaccine. It's dead/inactivated.
Vaccine Types | HHS.gov
Scroll down to where it says "Inactivated vaccines".
Hope that helps.

I am sorry to hear your daughter had a bad reaction.

My issues started with lower back pain that started 24 hours post vax and the over a few weeks turned into parathesia, tendon issues, joint issues, sleep deprivation, depression, tingling and numbness. I also started random parts of my body twitching and had joint stiffness in the morning on my left knee.

The neurologist that I went to thought it was all in my head. She performed an EMG and found nothing wrong with my extremities.

She kept repeating vaccines are safe and that the back pain was coincidence. Of course it's a very strange coincidence and I never had any of these issues I the 36 years I have been on this earth. But heck what do I know about my own body.

It's amazing how many Doctors are in complete denial over how once body can be affected by a vaccine.

Anyway this went on for 3-4 months pretty good. The tingling and numbness started to subside. Happening less and less. Every flare-up was depressing but overall it was getting better.

My back on the other hand still hurt every day pretty bad. The neurologist that thought it was all in my head sent me to physical therapy. After 4 months of therapy and very little help I decided to break from my neurologist and went to see an orthopedic doctor.

The new doctor shared with me that she had seen this. An arthritic flare in the hip of a man that had a flu vaccine. She sent me to an MRI and what it revealed was an arthritic condition my lower back.

About 6 total months after I experienced back pain I had a pain free day... Of course that happiness was erased the next day when the pain creeped back in. However I started getting pain free days... Then a few in a row... Then weeks pain free!

I am sitting over a year post vax and I feel 99.9% back to normal.

I remember how depressed I was and the crazy ordeal I went through by my daily body journals.

Tell your daughter to take a deep breath and this will pass.

It will take some time. Progress is measured in months not days.

Have your daughter eat non-processed/whole foods and rest.

I did end up connecting with TNShopper via PM and she had the same experience and almost the same time table.
How are you doing today. I'm in the beginning stages and feeling pretty hopeless right now. Any permanent damage?
