Hello everyone,
I think I recall that there are certain antibiotics people with neuropathy should not take. I tried to find something under search but couldn't. Does any know which ones we shouldn't take? I am currently taking Amoxicillin 875mg twice a day for a sinus infx. It seems to really be causing inflammation in my stomach. Hopeful ![]() |

I stay away from Mycins, especially Gentamycin. Can be ototoxic. I even have that on a med. bracelet.
Of course the meds listed above also.

Be sure to eat lots of good quality yogurt, kefir, or take probiotics. I got C Diff from Amoxicillin years ago.

Looks like the bases are covered well on this thread so far.
Ditto on the Kefir.... Lifeway has 12 strains to help heal up after antibiotics. It is far better than yogurt. Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic and kills off alot of bowel flora. A better choice for upper respiratory infections is Zithromax, which does not do that quite so much. To avoid if possible: Cipro Levaquin Avelox other fluoroquinolones Flagyl Tindamax Zyvox (which is usually a drug of last resort) Macrodantin/Macrobid Unfortunately this list seems to grow by the year! ![]()

Thanks to all of you. I will try the Kefir. I will have to look it up I am not sure what it is. I din't know you could get C-diff form antibiotics. Mrs. D. I am looking at the list of antibiotics you sent. I have had severe allergic reactions to Cipro and Sulfur drugs. Wonder if it is in amy way connected.I'm sure I will never know.
As a side note are any of you gluten free? I am and was wondering if any of you saw the news concerning rice and arsenic. Everything I eat down to my milk is just about rice base. Now I don't know what to do. |
