Default Gabapentin to Gralise conversion

Because of suspected GI issues from Gabapentin my doc has started me on Gralise. I was on 1800 mg Gabapentin and my doc started me on 1200 mg Gralise.

My doc has given me the freedom to tritrate up or down. At first it seemed I need 1500 mg but lowered my Gralise and seem to be holding okay on 1200 mg. Isn't that effectively lower than 1200 mg Gabapentin? What is the conversion from Gralise to Gabapentin? Is it one to one and just a different delivery method?

Lightbulb

The dosage form in Gralise allows for better absorption of the gabapentin. Normally the Neurontin form is poorly absorbed so very large doses are needed.

From what I have read online in the past the suggested doses for Garalise are MUCH lower than for regular gabapentin. Also because of the better absorption rate, taking too high a dose may cause more side effects, so be careful driving or operating machines.
