It appears to be an overall decrease in blood cell production which mainly shows up in the red cells. But this effect may also be present.

So it is very important to know your B12 level, and if it is low,
to raise it up to normal levels.

While a low white count can point to serious disease processes, the low B12 link, is easily and inexpensively fixed. I urge you to follow up on this as you need testing to clarify this.
