I started taking Flexeril again last week for muscle problems. I wonder if this drug could have stirred up the pain that is now abundtly torrmenting me.
I am probably grasping at straws. Deperate to figure out why after bliss for a couple months the burning and pain has come back 10 fold. ![]() Guess it's back to looking for the next supplement or miracle. |

It is possible. Drugs are always a wild card where side effects are concerned. People can be very individualistic in response to them.
I find Flexeril very very strong. One will last me 2 or more days in fact. If you are a slow metabolizer, you may find that taking it every day builds up in your system. Stop taking it and see what happens. You'll need at least a week to see a change.

I never take flexeril for more than a week at a time and usually only need it a few times a year. I carry a lot of stress in my shoulders and it was given to me for that a couple years ago.
Then I started getting these weird "episodes" with my arms. About a year ago I simply woke up one morning and my right arm hurt to lift at all. As long as I kept it stationary and down it was fine but right where the arm meets the shoulder, that mucsle that you use to lift was KILLER. This was before any neuropathy had ever appeared. I thought it was strange but forgot about it and it got better after a few days. Then, a year later it happens again, right arm. Excrutiating pain if I move arm. It got better and literally the next day the OTHER arm did the same exact thing. That has happened twice now since neuropathy. No explanations, no reason, doctor just said take flexeril. At that time I took flexeril every 4 hours for 4 days. Flexeril doesnt have much of an impact on me, but I am overweight, maybe that is why. But my mom takes it and it knocks her out for 2 days just with one pill. Me? Nope. I can take it every four hours and dont feel much. I do sleep better with it but can still have insomnia even if I am taking it. Anyway, this week the arm thing started again. I can feel it coming on now, so before it got killer I took flexeril the last 3 days and stopped it from getting awful. Dont know why I am saying all this. ![]() thanks MrsD |

Have you tried putting ice packs on that neck?
It might work.

I love to use heating pads. I have several really nice ones. My latest is one I ordered. It works for your neck and shoulders. Goes around your shoulders like a little cape. LOVE it. Ice hurts muscles, for me anyway. I do use soft ice packs I also order if I have nausea. Helps if I put on my stomach. Nausea with POTS.

Funny thing, you mentioned about Flexeril. Prior to my neuropathy, I was taking this muscle relaxant for my neck. I was taking it on and off for maybe about almost a year. I just took it 1x a day. I dont know if it was contributory to my PN, but I just remember, I was on it prior to my pain.
Who knows....Mrs. D is right, effects of the medicines to each person is individualistic. My husband was taking Flexeril about the same time I was on it but he does not develop PN (thanks God), though he has some back problems now. |
