As far as sugar substitutes go, there are some that are natural (unlike Splenda, which is artificial). I think Stevia and Truvia are both derived from natural sources. There's also one called Sweet Leaf that my nutritionist recommended. I've had SFN for a couple of years (burning, numbness, tingling in both feet, plus some pain in my heels). I was only diagnosed 9 months ago when the pain started to increase. I tried a few different painkillers but I didn't like the side effects (plus, they only helped slightly). Now I go for acupuncture once a week, which takes the edge off the pain enough that it's tolerable. Best, APJH |
