Default benfotiamine and methyl b12 questions

I am thinking about adding in benfotiamine and/or methyl b12 for my small fiber neuropathy.

My questions are as follows:

1) Are there any upper dosing limits for either? I have not really read about any, but wanted to make sure that this was accurate.

2) What is the most recommended dose for these for neuropathy, specifically small fiber neuropathy in my case (if that makes any difference).

3) Generally speaking, is there one of the two that has a reputation as being better than the other for helping with neuropathy and nerve regeneration?

Thanks in advance.

David, if you are low in B12, then yes, you will have serious nerve damage over time.

If you are marginal, the B12 will help. Marginal is around 400pg/ml.

If you are in the upper range of normal, it is less likely you will benefit. But since B12 is considered extremely benign, as far as toxicity, nothing bad will happen if you take and don't need it.
You will want at least 1000mcg of methylcobalamin (the active form) on
an empty stomach daily.

Benfotiamine is also pretty easy. The websites that sell it, like to drum up large doses. But really I think 150mg-300mg a day is enough for most people.

To regenerate and repair nerves, one should also take fish oil.
The Omega-3 fats, supply the building blocks for the remyelination of the axons.

I'd also consider using magnesium in some form. Avoid Oxide, but any other is okay. Aim for about 200mg daily which is 1/2 the RDA. If you use gabapentin you have to space it around magnesium. Lotions or soaking are okay anytime.
