Default Swelling ?

In all of your cases...is swelling of fingers and deformed looking knuckles a typical finger symptom of PN? Or is swelling not at all typical? Thanks in advance..

Question

I have had minor swelling before. My hands now are always somewhat swollen, but I don't have any pain in them except rarely. But then I am not typical, I am learning now.

Are they hot? Discolored? Is the skin shiney?
Shiney, tight skin is a sign of scleroderma which is an autoimmune disorder. I used to work with a woman who had this, but her fingers while clawed to some extent, were not swollen that I could see.

If you take an anti-inflammatory drug like ibuprofen or aspirin, are they better?

Some of the drugs used for PN pain can cause swelling. Gabapentin, Lyrica, opiates, antidepressants.

No just swollen and the knuckles are bigger then they used to be. The same hand specialist that old me it's neoropahy two weeks ago...today at follow up told me its not. It was like he never saw me and told me totally different . He referred me to a rhumotlogist! I'm so confused. He now says it looks like osteo arthritis ....X-rays normal. EMG and nerve studies normal blood normal. I give up. I live with tight swollen ripping tearing feeling fingers every night and while being still. It all making me worn out ...I've had twenty did different specialists tell me twenty things
