This is a question for ladies, and if any men know that's fine with me too. I got juvederrm as a gift. It's a filler made from hyaluronic acid. It will be applied into my face via an injection. The clinic called me for an appointment and i stalled it until next week until I felt more confident. I read online aside from some possible soreness/ redness there doesn't seem to be any toxicity involved. I am a bit scared due to my PN and shy away from things like this. Mostly I am worried about reactions to this and safety. Does anyone know if this is a safe?
Thank you!! |

My opinion only.... don't do it.
You are injecting a substance into tissues that are not typically used to it. Anyone with PN type issues, is sensitive. While I can only give you an impression I have, it is based on years on this forum. Your tissues, are unpredictable...and any invasive thing should be considered very carefully, IMO.

I would be afraid of any procedure that is not neccessary. You just never know. Make sure you do lots of research.

Yes Mrs. D, I think I agree unfortunately. ![]() I would love to have it done but I'm in 2 minds about it because of the consequences. I dont want to flare my PN any more than it is. My good friend got eyelash extensions (real mink), and I liked them too but was again worried about a reaction. It's really hard because I am still in a professional role seeing clients, and appearance is important. Also I still want to feel attractive even though some days I feel like hell. What I fear most is having a PN flare from having a cosmetic procedure. There are many different types of dermal fillers and all of them have some degree of risk involved for an autoimmune reaction I guess. |

Hi Hopeful, I can see why your neuro said no to Botox. It being a known toxin, I would not consider it either. So he was happy to say you can have other dermal fillers?? As far as asking my neuro. My neuro is excellent and has taken great care of me,but still truly does not know what has caused my PN. Alot has been ruled out, but the cause is still illusive. Its been chalked down to autoimmune which partly enompasses both inflammatory and metabolic states. I already have an autoimmune thyroid condition. So without her knowing for certain, asking her to decide is a role of the dice. |

I liked to daydream if I won the lottery what I'd do with the money. One of the things would be have nips and tucks. But now, with periods of all over pricks and itches - that little part of the daydream has gone out the window cause God Knows what that could cause!!! Just my thoughts but I'm new... so take with grain of salt.

The autoimmune aspect and risk of flare is greater then with your PN....in my opinion. The autoimmune response can be triggered by anything from an injection, a simple cold, stress, surgery, injury, etc. It doesn't take much to set off the immune system and in your case, autoimmune process.
I can't imagine your rheumatologist or endocinologist would recommend such a procedure....but you should ask them before proceeding. |
