Hi All!

I was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Small Fiber Peripheral Neuropathy by my neurologist.

First I was perscribed 300 mg of Gabapentin once a day. Didn't help and made me loopy. Staggered around and dizzy especially the first day.

Next, I was given 25 mg of Ametriptyline to take a couple of hours before bedtime. It just barely took some of the burning sensation and the side effects weren't worth that small bit of help. Very sedating and caused weight gain. Can't be so sleepy that I'm not safe to be on the road when I have to take my children to school and other activities.

Now my neurologist has me trying 600 mg of Horizant Extended Release Tablets once a day. Take about 5 o'clock every evening. I have only taken it for 11 days now so still not sure if it's going to help. My question is, has anyone reading this ever been perscribed Horizant for SFN? If so, did it help at all? I'm just not finding much imformation about Horizant Extended Release being used for SFN. The good thing about this medication is that I'm not getting any negative side effects from it.

I'd appreciate any knowledge you might have concerning Horizant for SFN.
