Default An intentional pun - a sticky suggestion

I haven't posted for awhile for several reasons but I've been reading through some of the links Dahlek was kind enough to share re: nerve regrowth and regeneration. It's pretty clear that regardless of the cause of the PN from among the >200 possible ones the net results of demyelination are essentially the same w/ respect to symptomology - not everyone has the same symptoms or severity but collectively all symptoms are represented by people in these threads. It struck me that for something as seemingly important and ultimately related to virtually everyone's situaton the forum might benefit from a sticky covering historical and recent links to nerve regrowth, regeneration such as the ones below that Dahlek shared.

http://www.physiol.usyd.edu.au/daved...s/1998/guides/
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releas...-ppn021203.php

My thought was that w/ the vast wealth of information available from forum members a sticky of this type could be very useful to everyone, long time members and newer ones like myself since to varying degrees we all deal with the results of demyelination daily.

Just a thought - it's late and the multiple fingers of Mr Jack haven't yet kicked in.

Default Good Idea

Alkymst,

Totally agree with you - we are a community with members with widely different symtoms, severity, causes, etc.... and information we may all potentially benefit from no matter the catalyst would be great.....

Hey gang - lets get one going - and for our super-researches out there - any good sites to recommend??????????

Default Curious, Alkymst brings up a point...

When one first finds these boards, just FINDING it is an accomplishment! Then you sort of get overwhelmed with the scope of all the posts. The stickies range from the basics to the really detailed...maybe sorting them out in to three types of stickies: Intro to PN and related conditions [what it is]; Getting diagnosed and Living with it; then the more in-depth research and issues about pain management that offer some hope and keep PN'ers up to date.

I clearly remember finding these boards 3 years ago and I did nothing but read everything...all posts and stickies... for over two months! Folks new to NT really can't appreciate what great info was posted and then archived or lost.

Some folks aren't gifted to understand some of the hard research, I know I truly have to read, re-read, then read again such stuff as the chemistry of it all is a clear to me as Russian or Chinese languages. But, I work on trying to understand it as PN is caused by chemistry in our selves. It's not any type of spoon-feeding or making PN info 'simple'. A way to enable and encourage those with PN to learn the language of it and then get more proficient.. maybe? Just a thought, and Alkmyst, it's a good one. I hope we can all do something useful. - j

bumping this up.

is this something the board as a whole would like to see done?

would you be interested in helping sort out the links?

what "titles" do you think the new stickies should have?

nothing will be done to the sticky already there unless the group prefers it.

feel free to send me pm's if you don't want to post.
