Default Should I Get an EMG?

After months of self diagnosis & a hearty agreement from my integrative medical doctor that I have some sort of PN whether alcohol or vitamin deficiency induced, my appointment with my Neurologist has finally arrived & is scheduled for Thursday.
My question to myself & to you other PNers is do you think that I should go through with this potentially painful, time consuming & apparently often misdiagnosed test if a.) I already am almost completely convinced of my current condition b.) if I am seeing some promising improvement with supplements, diet & lifestyle change c.) I don't like my Neuro & don't want to take drugs.
Thanks much for your thoughts on this matter.

With all due respect, if convinced of your diagnosis why see a Neuro? While I would certainly expect a Neuro to call for an EMG, he/she might think of blood work your other doc has not have thought of. Has your Neuro already recommended an EMG? Had you considered switching Neuros? My first was not that great but my second (current) is very good.

I am getting a new Neuro :-) When I went in for my scheduled EMG I told him my concerns & he agreed that perhaps an EMG is not best suited at this time for my symptoms.
