Default Best R-Lipoic Acid??

Is anyone taking R-Lipoic Acid for their PN? I have been taking 200mg of Doctor's Best brand for about 1 month with small improvement.
While shopping on Amazon for another bottle I came across Life Extension brand of the supplement. It is about the same price as the Doctors Best that I have purchased in the past but it has good reviews pertaining specifically to PN so I am intrigued.
If you are inclined to check them out here are the links.
Doctors Best: http://tinyurl.com/cjca8g2 is comprised of 150 mcg D-Biotin and 100mg R-Lipoic Acid
Life Extension: http://tinyurl.com/chhdk4s is comprised of 30mg Sodium and Stabalized Na-RALA Sodium R-Lipoate (providing 240 mg of R-Lipoic Acid)
Knowing virtually nothing about supplements I am hoping that one of you has some information or an opinion on the difference of the two.
Thanks for your time!!

To the best of my knowledge there is only one patented maker of Stabilized R-lipoic acid... Geronova. I would think they supply the various supplement makers the raw material. So there is going to be the same thing inside each capsule.

LEF tends to "sell" more aggressively, and charge more.
It is your choice.

Default I take--

--100mg/day of stabilized R-lipoic manufactured through Swanson Vitamins, though I usually order it through Amazon with a bunch of other supplements to take advantage of the free shipping over $25.

I believe 600mg only comes in the Racemic old type. ALA....
The old version is r-lipoic regular (not stablized) and s-lipoic.
The body does not have receptors for s- version.

You will have to take that on an empty stomach and possibly use
2 or more a day.

The R-lipoic stabilzed we are talking about is another newer version that allows for lower dosing.

1/2 of the old version is inactive so you only get 300mg out of a 600mg capsule. It still will work some, only high doses are needed as opposed to the stablized new form.

I can confirm this as I accidentally ordered this version last time around, Dr. Best ALA, which contains 600mg capsules.

When people are new at this supplement stuff...it takes a while
to learn to read the labels carefully and read the posts here carefully. It is a good idea to read them once... sleep on it, and
read them again... Do one topic at a time...It is rather like homework in school. I do this every day, so I have learned alot in a decade. For newbies, however, it is very overwhelming, I agree.

Supplement language is very specific, and I do try to put links up often to what I am talking about.

Everyone has to learn how to navigate the supplement world if you are going to use them. I am here to help with that... there are many posts on here that you can find by searching using the search function. And even things change ...like the r-lipoic stabilized being very new. In our older posts we didn't discuss that at all!

I always try to find quality items for the least amount of cash outlay. This is help with the costs, since many of us end up using more than one thing. It is helpful to save as much $$ as possible.

i have had 3 orders of the R lipoic .
i had the bottle in front of me to do the order .
i always keep bottles to do the next order of anything..... so i dont make mistakes. i have been supplementing for 22 years now one way and the other.

i went back and had to delete the order because i added in something and that is where i went wrong.

i am not sure if i said i had a pretty serious fall on saturday and was lucky to not have ended up with a shearing brain injury (from smashing my head onto a gum tree trunk ) and a near call on my hip replacement turning into a # .
had 24 hours in hospital and did the order 24 hours after that.
as i recall.
so i am not still in good shape and am in a lot of pain over most of me.
just a pity i needed to order at this time really and messed it up.
and why i have put off my transit over to Lyrica which i sort of started.
still waiting for the neuro to call me about that

i will look at it when the order arrives and see how i feel then and either work with it.......or not.

thanks again

order says........
