Default Kenalog 10 - Steroid Shot

I was trying to think back what could have brought on my symptoms and I did get a cortisone shot in my foot. It had a long acting steroid called "Kenalog 10". Approximately 2 weeks later I developed my symptoms (nerve zaps, itching, calf muscles twitching).

Could Kenalog 10 cause this?

I think it is possible the position of the needle, might have injured something. This can happen in the mouth, when a dentist numbs the area that he is working on. Lots of nerves in the mouth to injure.

I've had two steroid shots in my left foot. The ankle one seems to have done something to my ankle.

There is a restriction on steroid use in joints. No more than 2 per year 6mos apart. Steroids injected into joints, may cause bone
loss.

I don't know if there is a firm answer therefore to your question.

Some people develop a chronic pain condition called RSD when the foot or wrist is injured. Some from surgery, some from just a sprain or a more severe trauma. New evidence suggests that this is a type of autoimmune reaction to the nerves which may release damaged cells into the blood stream. If the person is prone to autoimmune issues, their body may then make antibodies to the nerve cells themselves, and lead to attack from then on. IVIG is being tried therefore in studies for some cases of RSD. Also some studies done in Europe show Vit C prevents RSD when these types of trauma or surgery happen. How the Vit C works is not clear yet.

So I guess anything IS possible.
