After much research, I decided to try R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid and a str0ng vitamin B regimen. It does help, but I've come to the conclusion there are no magic bullets.

If you're sensitive to nightshades, eliminating them from your diet will ease the pain a lot, especially (for me) potatoes, tomatoes, peppers.

Yes, it is quite amazing that nightshades can hurt so much!
I think it is the solanine in them. Perhaps some research will appear in the near future about this alkaloid, and what it does to people! Tomatoes you know were thought to be poisonous at one time historically.

The above article led me—eventually—to this one: Tainted tomato led to arthritis, which in turn led me to wonder if the tomato's "poisonous" rep couldn't possibly have been fueled by something similar in those olden times—someone becoming (violently) ill and/or dying after consuming contaminated tomatoes (reminescent of that whole ergotism/witch-hunt business which, incidentally, occurred during the same era/region).

A.k.a. "Love Apples", "Golden Apples", "Wolf Peaches", "Moor Apples".... tomatos have a fascinating (his/her)story....

I don't know about the other ingredients but lobelia is poisonous and can cause cardiac arrythmias.
