Default Do NOT PANIC!!!!!

That is the forward in Douglas Adam's 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' [and, also a member of Monty Python - golly I date myself?

For your neuro visit tomorrow: Read the following - www.neuroexam.com
It's all about [the short version] of what neuro's 'exam' you for, ask you about, then test you on...and why..Since you are probably away from home...be very clear and ask for COPIES of any and all tests and summaries in writing...so if things change...YOU can bring records around with YOU...YOU have copies?

NEXT got to www.lizajane.org and take a peek at her worksheets. LJ is a member here [who's be quiet lately-hope all is well] who has had both spinal and severe neuropathy issues.. LJ put together these sheets, and I know other members have contributed to what all possible tests could be done to diagnose the over 200 kinds of neuropathies. Consider it a 'roadmap' of sorts, BUT don't get swamped down in details just yet. I believe you have been really doing your homework tho...Save that energy for when more tests are done. Oh, don't expect all the tests to be done in a week or the like...it often takes months. Be cool about it.

One thing you've not touched on is whether you mite have had a bad cold or flu about 3-5 months ago...not the kind that goes away in a couple of weeks, I mean the kind that just kept hanging around... Did you? If yes, it could lead to some routes, if not, to others.

The most important point for you when you see this new doc... Is to be as clear and simple in explaining to him what YOU think is going on with you. Try to be factual ...'I feel numb' is one thing...'I feel numb, first in my toes, now up to my knees.'..starting 'X' date and moving 'up' to Y on 'z' date...etc..For now you don't have to be precise, just accurate in what's happened...and, about when. No matter what, it's scary. Rightfully so. But the less emotional you present it all.. fear tho can be included and with cause. The more likely a doc is to pay attention to YOU.

The next issue, is don't start looking for a cause of the problem rite now. Just look for what the PROBLEM IS, start treating it, THEN worry about the other stuff later. You are way too young to have this kind of thing... Hopefully it's something that can be simple to fix! IN the meantime, I'm going to wait to hear from you about what the doc has said and done... - j
