Welcome to NeuroTalk:
Over the past years there have been many posts about shoes, and for the most part, everyone has a favorite. To find posts about shoes use our search function at the top of our forum first page, and all the posts will be displayed. There is one thread for example on our subforum. You have to search for yourself, as our cookies don't transfer from others on links here. Or I'd do the search for you. Use shoes as a keyword.

I've asked the same thing a few months back. I got a lot of responses. And you know what, they're all ugly shoes. Don't expect to find some cute shoes. There are some that have some not totally horrible mary janes. Yes, I'm super picky, and I think it depends on your age and style (I'm an old punk rocker/goth).
So far what I have found is the most comfortable for me (lately) is some flip flops I got at Kohls that have kind of a thin but cushy bottom and a leather strap on the top or my flats that have a rubber sole. Many people find that the heat bothers them, which is why many like flip flops. I just need something on the bottom of my feet but that aren't totally wrapped up. When I'm at home I've found that even the shag throw we have kind of hurts my feet a little, so I wear the flip flops to keep what I'm walking on as smooth as possible. For me it's just a matter of keeping the surface I'm stepping onto flat and debris free. But I don't have arch problems, like those who have CMT. In the Winter I wore mostly uggs or fuzzy slippers because my feet are constantly cold. |

Thank you so much for your replies. I'll take your advice and do the search of the forums. I live in the U.K. and I can't find the Kohls brand for sale here but i'm sure there will be something similar. Once again many thanks

There is a European company--arcopedico...
I like the first two on this link. The second one..the flat slip on is very comfortable...and dressy. I've had 3 pairs of these over the years: (#1141) http://www.arcopedicoshoes.com/classic/ Some outlets online sell them for much less$$ than the home website. They do offer men's.... lots of their products are unisex designs.

I have three pair of Propets. They aren't beautiful, but they are stable, which is what I look for most, and they come in pretty colors. They are also more reasonably priced than many other orthopedic brands like Drew, which are not better quality.
I wear their dress shoes. If you are looking for a stable sandal, nothing beats Finn Comfort, but they are four times the price. Worth it since I would never be able to walk in sandals otherwise. They are an investment, last forever, thick leather made in Germany. I have a blue pair and a silver pair that are pretty dressy for orthopedic stability shoes. I have CMT, can neither feel my feet nor move my toes, so shoes have to be very secure or I can walk right out of them and never notice. Never wore flip-flops in my life. |
