Havent been back here for a couple of years..
Checking in today because my symptoms are worse, and trying to see whats new.. I am 65 now..was
Diagnosed in 2009 with Anti Mag.. after several years of feet problems like Plantar in both feet and then Neuropathy in toes and feet..now I know ALL connected to Anti Mag..
I am one of those stubborn people who do not like taking drugs, esp. when all my research points to the fact that the cure is ususally worse than the disease and so many of these drugs are experimental and dont last long..so I pretty much have ignored my AMN and tried to walk as much as I can and keep active..Eat well and live a healthy life..
Over the years leg cramps are worse, all I have to do now is bend my toes down and my calf muscles cramp..dead toes that seem to be curling under...I cannot hike 5 miles now without spending the next 3 days w/o being able to walk hardly at all, have lost weight and am now thinking my muscles are atrophying (sp?) fallen 3 times in the last few months, I used to fall out walking before the diag..in the past few yrs. since, I have been more careful..now just fall...and only wear rubber sole shoes esp. for driving..not feeling feet..
Gave up on Neurologists all they want to do is the EMG test and shock the heck out of you..have enough pain..thanks..and dont want plasma exchange or meds so they dont like me..
Saw a specialist at the CA PACIFIC MEDIAL CENTER..ALS/MDA center in S.F. Dr. said I do not have Monaclonal Gammopathy of UNDETERMINED Significance...BECAUSE with Anti Mag you know the Significance...and even though the IGM is rated H high..it will never be CANCER...and he said that to me 4 times..you will never have cancer with Anti Mag..so its just a nuisance protein that is destroying my myelin sheath..but should not ever turn into a
bone marrow cancer. My surprise though at Dr.'s who do not understand that Anti Mag is more than distal..info on anti mag is NOT good..mine was never distal..always arms and legs and feet and hands..Also wondering how many of you know your MAG test results mine were 102,400...beyond HIGH normal 1600..I want to know the correlation with this HIGH result to how bad my Anti Mag is...also my IGM is 439.
Wondering if any of you have ever had Shingles, I have all my life..wondering if any connection to IGM protein..
