Frown Itching in big toe

I have idiopathic PN, and have recently developed severe itching in one of my big toes. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a topical lotion to help alleviate this problem. I use Topricin lotion which helps with the stabbing pains and burning but doesn't do much for the itching.

Question

I wonder?

Have you ever had toenail fungus, or have it now to some extent?

Does your toenail hurt when you press on it? Is it discolored in any way?

Thanks for your response, Mrs. D.....I'm almost sure it's not a fungus. It's not discolored and doesn't hurt when I press on it. The itching is on the bottom of my toe but seems to come from inside, and not from the skin on the surface of my toe. Maybe it's just the damaged nerves acting up. I tried benadryl but I will get some lanacane, and see if that helps.
