Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to pick up Morton's Epsom lotion after work today and I'll let you know how it goes. I will still be scheduling an appt with a neurologist when I find some time. Thanks!

Here's a quick update - I've been applying the epsom lotion twice daily, but haven't seen any improvement...yet. I will keep using this at least through the first bottle to see if it helps any. It's nice that it drys quickly and doesn't smell like other foot cream

I've been reading some about vitamin D3 and Alpha lipoic acid. I know I haven't been formally diagnosed with PN, but I'm really looking to try a couple things on my own before another visit to the doctor. Is there any harm in taking these at the same time? I haven't bought them yet but planning to this weekend. Any thoughts / concerns with this?

Thanks again, Chris.

Without testing suggestions for vitD max dosing is
2000 II D3 daily.

We have had posters report less pain after fixing low
D levels.

Using lipoic acid does not require testing.

For what it's worth, a neurologist told me I was probably developing peripheral neuropathy for a year or so before I noticed it, but it was "masked" by my regular, strenuous workouts on elliptical trainer and treadmill. Then in February I fell on ice and got fractures in my left knee and left shoulder--so I had to be mostly sedentary for about six weeks. At that point the fractures were well on the way to healing, but the PN announced itself, starting in the left foot. (Now I'm trying to slowly add more walking and I think the PN pain is diminishing, with the additional help of Nortriptyline.) As for seeing a neurologist--I'd advise you to begin trying to set up an appointment NOW. In many areas of the country, neurologists are in such demand that people in more pain than I am have to wait months to get seen. Good luck!
