hi wend see private neuro consultant today, he examined me and said- my reflexes seamed to be ok but when i went to do the walk test with feet in front of the other i went over to the side abit he tapped my wrists and i said i could feel pins and needles, so he is going to do a nerve conductivity test, and he also arranging for a head and neck MRI? is this normal head and neck MRI )i wonder why he is not doing full spine? he said i could go back on NHS with a six + or - waiting time or i could have the mri private which would cost 700 he didnt say wether it was urgent or not he just said i dont think its anything serious but now im worrying
im assuming he is looking for MS?

Hi, I don't have any answers I am afraid but 6 months is a long time to wait if you are worried. I am in a similar position to you although I got a neuro appointment within 7 weeks of referral from GP which is at the end of September. I have heard of some instances on NHS but mainly with cancer patients that once you get some things done privately then the cost of drugs etc. has to be done privately and the GP won't do on NHS. My neuro appointment (first available) is with an epilepsy expert and am now wondering if I should have asked for an expert in Neuropathy. Out of interest how much did the private neuro cost? Are the EMG test on NHS? I am in Lancashire.

Hello,

I just joined the forum :) And I was wondering if there are any natural stuff I can take to help with my shooting pains at night. It usually affects my feet, and sometimes my legs. Any idea if there is something natural out there?
