I didn't know what they were called, so I had to look it up. There's a whole slew of job descriptions in that (ahem) budding industry.

This was very interesting even though I didn't watch the whole video which is like an hour. Thank you.

I sure hope it isn't legalized as I'm allergic to it. I can just see the "no smoking" laws go out the window because of lawsuits by those who medically need this drug....

I think everything (nearly) has a place.

That hasn't happened in any of the 20+ states in which it's already been legalized for medicinal use, so I think it's highly unlikely it ever will. If anything, laws regulating smoking of medical marijuana are more restrictive than those governing tobacco smoke for good reasons. Allergies aside, there is a secondhand/contact exposure issue.
Quote:
Most of the laws specify that they do not allow marijuana to be smoked in public or possessed in correctional facilities. The laws generally specify that employers do not have to allow on-site marijuana use or employees working while impaired, and several specify that they do not protect conduct that would be considered negligent.

Many patients ingest it orally rather than smoking; not legalizing would deprive those people, and those who use it at home or in permitted areas, and cause them further undo suffering.

What is challenging smoking laws in many places are e-cigarettes. Touted as safer than regular cigarettes, they still exude carcinogen-containing vapors. If you can smell them, chances are you're inhaling those carcinogens.

Indeed. Even in permissive Holland, it's absolutely forbidden to smoke in the so called "coffee shops". (does that make them barristas BTW? ) It's also illegal to smoke it in the presence of minors (the police really clamps down on that, rightfully so).

The good old contact high (it exists)...

Ingesting is indeed the healthy way - many non smoking hippies used to make "space cake" in the sixties and seventies. It's just as effective. I still smoke (tobacco, but planning to quit etc etc), but even I can see that tobacco laws are here to stay.

Thank you so much for the video. Me and my husband watched it together, all of it. It is informative. If ever it would be legal in our state, I would prefer the oral route instead of the inhalation.

Another documentary was just aired a few weeks ago on CNN. It was done by DR. Sanjay Gupta. I only saw some of it though. But part I saw chronicled a family who's young daughter had terrible seizures to the point she was not able to function at all and was near death. It was heartbreaking to see her in such a condition.

They were able to finally try MM as a last resort and it was a miracle for her.

So here's another, more current video about 45 min long.

Dr. Gupta only recently reversed his position on MM: (Worthwhile reads, IMO)

sanjay gupta reverses opinion on marijuana

A very similar case in NJ received national attention as the father pleaded with Gov. Christie to sign an amendment to their state MM law to allow treatment for children in certain circumstances.

father pleads for daughter christie

In all states that have legalized, that is, and should always be, the patient's choice.

Doc,
Just my experience. I have tried just about everything as I have Severe RSD. I tried Marinol, which I found to be terrible!! I had all the negative side effects and minimal pain relief. I have tried smoking with great pain relief, but again cannot stand the side effects....To each his own though. I personally can't wait for it to be legalized, to use it in baked goods, as the side effects are gone for me. Thanks for the threads, this site is helpful
