Default Weird Symptom

I hope I can explain this new symptom without people thinking I have completely lost my mind. Lately (last 2 months) I have had a new weird symptom, It's almost like a Dejavu feeling, I can tell when this dejavu feeling is coming on a few moments before it starts then I see this person or place that seems familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on who or what this place is, then I get this weird rising up feeling in my lower body and stomach then the feeling goes away, so strange. I told my Doctor about it and she thinks I could be having a panic attack, but that is not what this feels like to me, this feeling does not make me feel panicked or scared, just weird. The reason I'm asking for your opinion here is that I was thinking maybe the Gabapentin I'm on is causing this, but I've been on it for over a year and haven't had anything like this happen before now. Could this be an autoaunomic problem. Just don't know what to think about this... Was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. As always thank you so much. Blessings, Jan

Jan, what you are experiencing is a classic onset symptoms of a grand mall seizure as well. I have had 2 in my life and that is what happened along with a rushing sound in the ear drums however the Gaba may be stopping it.

Im not suggesting its happening but it may explain the symptoms.

I'd take your pulse and blood pressure when these happen.
If those remain normal and stable, then all that is left is a seizure aura. Odd sinking feelings in the stomach can be an abrupt fall in blood pressure. If it is not severe enough to faint, it just feels strange. You can get an inexpensive manual BP cuff for around $20. It would be a good idea for you to have, incase your PN becomes autonomic. You need to learn to take your BP daily I think. It is not difficult to learn.

DejaVu is a classic seizure aura, however.

Default Is it possible it's something other the a seizure?

I asked my Doctor if she thought it might be a seizure and she said probably not because I didn't have any of the other symptoms that go along with the ones I do have. Is it possible there might be some other cause for this, like a panic attack? I sure hope I'm not developing seizures! Thanks again for the replies...MrsD I will start taking my blood pressure, I do have reactive hypoglycemia so maybe this is related to that? Anyway thanks for all of your input. Jan

A sudden drop in blood sugar would give other signs....as well.
Sweating, muscle twitches, some nervous anxiety, shaking are
typical.

I was having a type of episode with my ACE inhibitor crisis.
I'd get a strange feeling and need to sit down, and when I changed position I'd almost pass out. This would come after walking or shopping. I haven't had one since I was taken off that drug... but lisinopril increasing bradykinin, was dilating major vessels too fast, and that was what was happening to me. I did not however have any DejaVu.

Children do get abdominal seizures.(it is considered rare, however).
This article says abdominal seizures are connected to temporal lope epilepsy....and temporal seizures begin often with DejaVu.
I think you need to have this explored further with a specialist.
