Default is it really neuropathy

I was diagnosed with neuropathy many years ago. Now I am on way too much meds and I am having trouble functioning on a daily bases. I have always thought that it was not neuropathy but, that it was in my back. The problems with that is I just had surgery on my back(L3,4,5) stenosis. After the surgery I was on prednisone and I had zero pain in my feet. I know that I can not say on prednisone but, the fact that it helped, make me still wonder is it really neuropathy.
My neuropathy is only in both sets of toes and starts and stops at the same time, along with the same intensity. I am on a ton of meds 125 mg amitriptyline, 375 mg of lyrica a long with 50 mg tramadol 2 to 3 times a day. I also use The Rebuilder now and then.
Does anyone have any suggestions that could help point me in the right directions or a least suggest other med, that don't make me a zombie during the day?
