Default EMG results

Just got back from the neuro - last appointment.

I now finally know (as far as I understand his report) the damage that was done. I hope someone can interpret it. Not that it changes much how I feel (great, all things considered), but it's always fun to understand. I'm translating from Dutch, so there might be an error here and there

General: sensory and light motor axonal polyneuropathy

1) can not get a conduction result from both left and right sural nerve (*I did feel it though )
2) F-waves are significantly delayed (with this tall patient)
3) no denervation (?)
4) no changes or only slight variations in comparison with earlier tests
5) symptoms have stabilized, no further tests needed

He did say that there might still be a slight improvement over the years provided I keep to the complete alcohol stop, and he does acknowledge that my diet is having positive effects. He also agrees with continued B12 supplementation, as well as DHA/EPA.

I do have a bunch of numbers as well and I can scan the document if someone is interested.

I did ask him why it is I have almost 0 pain while busy, but a bit of pain when I sit or lie down. He replied it's pretty normal, as nerves generally can only transmit one signal at a time. The normal sensations of walking around can block the pain signals which come available again when you stop the activity. So he did stress it's not just psychological, it's how we are built. He said that's why parents stroke their kids on "where it hurts": it actually works!

He did congratulate me with my lifestyle changes and it seemed pretty genuine (he's certainly not known to be very complimentary). So secretly, I was a bit proud.
