Default Finding a doctor

Hi all: I have been diagnosed with poly neuropathy...Told at the time by the EMG administering doctor to #1 Start Exercising,#2 Stop smoking(I don't) #3 stop drinking(I don't) I have numbness and tingling in both feet and tingling spreading up my left leg...My problem getting a doctor is that I have NO pain from the neuropathy...Every doctor I have talked to is neuropathy specialist in pain management.
Everyone I have talked to says they can't help me because I aam not in pain.....any suggestions as to how to find a doctor and what to look for
I would appreciate any suggestions

Hi Steph, Welcome.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but count your blessings that you don't have pain with this bugger. I didn't have any pain with initial onset either, but eventually... So I do understand and support your desire to nip this in the bud before any pain sets in, and I agree that its outrageous that doctors seem to want to wait until things progress to that point (pain) rather than helping avoid that possibility.

With or without pain, the medical community has cut loose/washed its hands of many PNers because so little is known about it and how to help us. Therefore, we've had to become our own advocates and detectives in finding ways of helping ourselves. This site has much information contributed by peer PN sufferers that can either help you or point you in directions that may.

I don't know offhand (currently pressed for time) if this search will help or not, but IMO it should be a good starting point.

finding a doctor peripheral neuropathy (Also note some of the related searches at the bottom of the first page. )

Best wishes,

Doc

We have very similar stories, my feet are numb, drive with my hands. My hands are affected to. I don't have constant pain, but I do have stinging pains, cramps, etc. good luck with finding a dr. You are your own advocate, don't give up.
